Early Block – Tuesday, Week Two

Week Two feels much like Week One; same structure, same steady work, just with a bit more fatigue settling into the legs. Yesterday’s Zone 2 ride was a classic early‑block moment: trying to hold heart rate down while everyone else on the club ride pushed up the hills. I must have been the most annoying rider there, drifting backwards and refusing to punch over the ramps like I normally would. Zone 2 honesty isn’t glamorous, but it’s part of the deal.

Today I swapped the planned two hour Z2 with the heavy strength session planned for Wednesday, just to biuld in a little more recovery. After a decent ninety-two mile ride yesterday, the gym felt like the right call.; slow, controlled work, no heart‑rate battles, just getting the foundations in place.

The block so far is straightforward and repetitive:

  • Week 1: Z2 miles, heavy strength, cadence drills, swim + sauna on the rest day, long 3.5‑hour ride, Sunday club run + extention after coffee.

  • Week 2: More Z2, more strength, more drills, another swim, a four‑hour Watership Down ride coming up, and the usual Sunday club ride, if they can bear my stubborn zone 2!

Nothing dramatic joing on yet, just base biulding and consistent work stacking up day by day. Early block doing exactly what early block should….
